JBIET LIBRARY SERVICES

The JBIET Library is located in the “Main Block” of the campus. It epitomizes the spirit and strength of the institute and offers an excellent opportunity to transform the academic environment of the College campus as a provider of information and a facilitator to learning. It has a rich collection of reference books, textbooks and research journals in both electronic as well as in print formats encompassing the field of engineering and management. Continuous updation using Information Technology or titles procured is incorporated to improve the quality and efficiency of the services that the library provides.

The Library is equipped with Reading Hall, Digital Library, Reference Hall and Newspaper Section. The entire Library is under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. Library automation is done by KOHA Library Management Software. 

Borrowing of General Books:

Each Student borrows 06 books for a time duration of 15 days. Books will be issued to the members only on producing the Identity Card. More than one renewal will not be allowed for Books.

Book Bank Scheme:

JBIET Central Library offers to students Book Bank Scheme. It offers upto 06 books for student upto Final Year.

Library has a Book Bank facility which is very much helpful in fulfilling students requirement for the prescribed books on Semester basis. Book Bank functions as one section of the Library. Membership of the Book Bank is optional.

 

Circulation of Books for Book Bank Members:

  • A Student may get a maximum of six books from the Book Bank at a time.
  • Books will be issued at beginning of each semester as per the schedule notified for the purpose.
  • Books will be issued for whole semester. Members will be required to return the books after the completion of the exam.

 

Extended Library Hours:

The Library serves the College community keeping open throughout the year on working days to facilitate the students. Library working hours are from 9.00 A.M to 6.00 P.M for the benefit of students.

 

Central Library Best Practices:

  • Central Library organized IEEE Worksho on 25th July,2024 for Faculty and Research Scholars in which Mr. Srinivasa Training Manager, Bangalore delivered a talk on Navigating IEEE Xplore :Empowering Research and Teaching Excellence 

  • Central Library organized IEEE Workshop on 24th January 2024 for Faculty, Research Scholars and students in which Mr. Srinivasa Training Manager, Bangalore delivered a talk on “Knowledge at your Fingertips: Mastering IEEE Xplore for Research Excellence.”

  • Central Library organized IEEE Workshop on 23rd December 2023 for Faculty, Research Scholars and students in which Mr. Srinivasa Training Manager, Bangalore delivered a talk on "IEEE Xplore Features and Usage".

  • Central Library organized National Webinar on "Research Ethics: DOs and DON'Ts" on 13.07.2021 in which Library Professionals and Faculty members across India participated.

  • Central Library organized National Webinar on "Information Sources and Services in Engineering and Technology: Recent Trends and Developments" on 19.09.2020 in which Library Professionals and Faculty members across India participated.

 

RULES & REGULATIONS

  1. Strict and absolute silence shall be observed in the Library.
  2. Mobile Phones to be switched off inside the Library.
  3. Student Bags, Handbags, Raincoat and Jerkin are strictly prohibited inside the library.
  4. Users are requested to keep their belongings in the space provided for their belongings at the entrance of the Library.
  5. Books will be issued to the members only on producing the Identity card. Identity Cards are not transferable.
  6. If any book is lost or damaged beyond repair, the person responsible shall replace it with a new copy or pay double of the cost of the recent price and handling charges or as may be decided by the competent authority.
  7. Any kind of marking, underlining, clipping of books is absolutely forbidden.
  8. More than one renewal will not be allowed for books.
  9. Reference books, Magazines, Journals are not for issue. They are for library reading only.
  10. New arrivals list will be displayed on Library OPAC.
  11. Eatables and drinks are not allowed in the library.
  12. Sleeping is strictly prohibited in the library.
  13. The Library may accept the donation of manuscripts, books, periodicals etc. from the donors. Such donations once accepted will become the absolute property of the College.
  14. The books should be returned in on or before the due date else fine will be incurred for each day of delay as the student can borrow the books for the period of 15 days.

 

DIGITAL LIBRARY RULES & REGULATIONS:

  1. Digital Library is to be used for academic purpose only.
  2. Browsing of social networking sites and Online Chatting is strictly prohibited. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against the defaulters.
  3. Changing the settings and display of the Computers kept in the Library is not permitted.
  4. Playing games on computers is strictly prohibited in the entire Library premises.
  5. Pen drives, CD/DVD ROMs, Cell Phones are not allowed to be used in the Digital Library.

Constitution of Library Committee for the AY 2024-25

The Library Committee has been constituted to look after the welfare, enrichment, digitization, and modernization of the Technical Information Centre. The committee will also look into the upkeep, quality & quantum of Technical & Management books, Journals, e-resources & project reports available in the library and their easy accessibility issue and return to the faculty members and the students. The committee will also give suggestions from time to time to improve the overall infrastructure, ambience and discipline in the library. Moreover, the categorization of books and cataloguing will be monitored so as to ensure availability of subject specific material for the students of various disciplines.

Both National and International journals are made available in the Department Library for the convenience of faculty and students.
